I was wondering when you are a ranger where do all the arrows come from. A Quiver would be a good addition.
It would be a typical offhand but you would where it over your shoulder or something. It would have an inscription slot and suffix. give you plus armor or IAS like +2%- +10% depending on the rquirements or it could just vary the type of arrow like elemental types or w/e(idea by snaek), which would be expertise or marksman ship.
now im not saying you would have to buy arrows for it but it would be a cool idea. make a ranger a tad bit better,
probable for GW2 but not now(Rak Orgon of Beowulf)
For those who don't know what a quiver is: where a ranger/archer stores its arrows.
FAILURE IDEA!

First of all, arrows come from magic dragons. Second of all, a bow is a two handed weapon, so no "offhand". Third of all, rangers are fairly well balanced, so no real need for a change. Fourth of all, my armor, hair, and cape clip enough without a quiver on my back. So /notsigned.

a quiver usually implies different types of arrows
which, like in other games, emphasizes skill arrow selection for different situations
(very much like an ele's different elements)
the only difference in gw is that an ele has to respec outside of a mission or battle to get different effects
while all a ranger would have to do is weaponswap
while it sounds pretty cool...it would be waaay too op

yeah i've thought of this before...never had the stones to post the idea.
it'd have been cool if it was like an early update back in the proph days but way too complicated for right now.

Many things would have to change to put that in the game.

Amen to the clipping issues.

Good reasoning here. Besides, where am I gonna stash my shields and offhands if you take away my Heroes' offhand slots when they are wielding a 2H weapon?
I like the idea, but there is no need for this to be implemented, aside from the pure aesthetic (or not, see above quote, point 4 in savage's post) value of having a quiver.

clipping issues. lots of work has to be done(you know that there is less then a handful of devs on gw1 now right?). rather have them work on gw2.

Rangers are already the only balanced prof in guildwars, why should we buff them and make them OP'd?

Might be cool to add a quiver that just sits over the back when wielding a bow. Has no effect on gameplay just a purely ascetic thing. But better for gw2...
(Another idea would be to make a preparation necessary, and provide you with 15 arrows (for instance) of that type, and ur next 15 shots have that effect. Then you need to reapply. This would simply screw up with barrage and volley though.

Imo if you were to do something at all just make a quiver for each of the armors, just to be there w/ no function so it doesn't look like you are pulling the arrows out of thin air.

As Aiden says..'I never run out of arrows'. I think its a secret ranger thing. Not even know to most rangers!
FYI the post claiming its silly to post lore questions in a pvp game.
I don't think Guru is the least bit silly to have a lore forum. There is
lore, and for pve its an important part of the story line.
That said, not signed. Having to buy arrows would make the class most tedious to play. I don't want to have to carry energy pills to power spells either.

1) Clipping
2) Paragon has infinite spears as well
3) Extra piece of equipment makes Ranger more powerful than other classes
4) Clipping
Have you seen capes having issues with Ranger armor? I have. Add another item to the back and you now have that item and the cape to deal with clipping issues. Plus, the cape and the quiver would have clipping issues.
Might have been a nice idea if it was done at the VERY BEGINNING, but now there are far too many armor types to add this in without a HUGE investment of time/money. If they just throw it in fast/cheap, nobody would be happy due to the clipping, and a major QQ would start.
/unsigned for a QQ extravaganza

Eh, no. Then somehow something else would have to change so you have to craft/buy arrows...no thank you.
